    My parents they do fret
    In great torture for their pet
    Bewailing alone they may weep
    Of all my friends I was bereft

    They received me tenderly

    I went one morning on the dew
    My long journey to pursue
    For to find another mansion of relief
    O'er mountains I did fly
    Yet my eyes I could not dry
    Ruminating o'er the the hardships of this Isle
    The Queen's bounty I did meet
    Hospitable and discreet
    And a nursery I found in Derryguile
    Like King Herod in his rage
    He cut down the tender age
    Where expecting our Redeemer to destroy
