- About 100 years ago there was no brewery in Rathdowney. There was a flour mill where it now situated. Flour was sold around the country. The mill was owned by a man named Mr. White and there was a rive beside it to turn the machinery.
After a while an English man by the name of Perry bought the mill and seeing it was a suitable spot because of the river turned it into a brewery and ever afterwards beer is made there. A good many of men are employed for making the beer.
The brewery helped to start this town because houses had to be built for the men employed in it.- Collector
