Some of the present customs are the throwing of confetti at the bride, after the marriage, and also - a custom which is often practised in the country is the throwing of an old shoe at the car which bears the bride from the chapel.
These customs are supposed to bring luck to the married couple, but present-day people have more intelligence, than to believe in those practises, which are only superstitions handed down to us from ancient times. These things are done now, more in the spirit of fun and frivolity, than from the fact that they have any other significance.- Collector
