- I live in Raheenleigh, which got its name from a rath, which was at one time situated in Mr John Welahunty's field.
It was surrounded by a double bank of clay, with a trench of water outside it, and it had a hole in the side. It's shape was round.
This rath was rooted out by a man who owns the rath field, some centuries ago; and it is said, that two corpsed went out of that house on the same day, and it happened soon after the removal of the rath.
It is not right to interfere with duns or old raths of modern times, because they always bring illuck.
This rath was supposed to be built by the Good People, who dwelt in Ireland long ago.
Long ago, between eleven and twelve o'clock, music, as if churning was heard in the vicinity of the rath, but since its removal, no music is heard, but at certain times, lights are seen in the place where it stood. This we are told by people who travel late at night, in the vicinity of where the rath once stood.(continues on next page)- Collector
