yard is used for burying the people.
In one corner, there is a patch called the "Stranger's Corner". It is used for burying strangers who have no place else to be buried, and who may have, for some time, lived in the vicinity of the graveyard.
It is said there is an underground passage from the Graveyard to the Nunnerry, which stands about half a mile from it.
