years. Mr Pickett was a Protestant Gentleman his ghost haunted Bernard's grove for many years. It annoyed the Gorman family very much. Balls of fire appeared and stones and other weapons were flung at them. At last they appealed to the Parish Priest at Abbeyleix to give them some relief from it. He advised them to take courage when next it appeared to make the sign of the Cross and command it never to appear there again while people of the name of Gorman live there.
