    Some year ago in my parish there lived a farmer. He was rather dark and sullen in his manner, but everyone respected him. He was well educated and never believed in superstition.
    One morning in November this man awoke before day light and was surprised to see his old servant sitting at the fire. She seemed to be in great trouble.
    "What brought you out of bed so early?" "O I am afraid to tell you" said she "something bad is going to happen as a Banshee was about the house all night". The man knew the Banshee
