  1. Once upon a time there lived three pig-buyers they were going upon a journey in a train. They were all telling stories except an old sailor who had only one leg. One of them asked him to tell a story, "surely they said you ought to have good ones". "I have not much to tell" said the sailor "only about being once on a sailing vessel out on the ocean. The shop was run out of all kinds of provisions and I fell sick. They called in the doctor and he ordered me "beef-tea, wine, chickens and eggs". "and where did you get them or where did they come from" asked the lads. "I got all of them said the old man although there was neither bit, bite or sup on board". Then they asked him how did he get them when they weren't on board. "I got beef-tea from the Bulworks and wine from the port-hole".
    They then asked him where he got the chicken "surely there were no chickens on board" said the others. 2I got them from the hatch". They all began to laugh and said "where did you get the fresh egg?"
    "Right enough he said there were no hens on board but I got the egg". Again they
