- (continued from previous page)an unknown poet. As follows:-
'T was on last Sunday evening
I drove through Cappinrush
On all its slumbering branches
Where merrily sang the thrush"
Part of the land is boggy, but it is, for the most part, fairly good, and suitred to the growing of corn, wheat, beet, potatoes etc.
Cappinrush has no woods, no rivers, and no lakes. It has a few streams of no importance. - I live in the townland of Ockanaroe. It is situated in the parish of Ballyfin and in the barony of Maryborough West. The meaning of Ockanaroe is "The Land Of The Red Yew-Trees" This is not explained locally.
There are two families in the townland and about eighteen people. Their names are Reillys' and Phelans. there are no old people over seventy living there.
