stuck a fork in its eye and threw it into the well again. A nun who was at holy communion on the same morning is said to have seen the trout. She called for her companions but when they looked in to the well, saw no trout. There are stones in the well and they are supposed to protect people from dying a sudden death or from drowning. St. Fintans water will never boil. There is a square stone with a hollow in it said to be there from people putting St. Fintans water on it to bathe their sores.
