  1. About two miles outside Mountmellick there is a hill named Knockbawn with a nice green circle at the top of it, where three white ladies used to be seen. When they had been seen for some time, some of the people of the neighbourhood said they would go up to see what they were. So they went up one day and they found some shoes all of them were odd. There also used to be music heard there; There was a log of bushes growing on the hill. It is said that the music
