    in olden times the first thing done, was to put a pot of potatoes to boil on the fire. The people used to have stirabout and a "noggin" of milk for their breakfast and boiled potatoes and buttermilk for their dinner.
    The people used to eat the stirabout from big dishes which were left on the table in front of each person. The workmen used also eat from these big dishes with the people of the house.
