    Shrove Tuesday is the eve of Ash - Wednesday and it was an old custom to have a feast of pan - cakes.
    Whit Sunday
    Any animal born on Whit Sunday or on Whit Monday is supposed to kill or be killed.
    St Martin's Day
    It was an old custom to kill a fowl and sprinkle the door, with the blood on St Martin's day.
    Michaelmas
    It was an old custom to kill a goose on Michaelmas day.
