ing by the fire. It is about an old woman and the cruelty she did to her step-children. Once upon a time there was an old man and when his wife died he said it might be happier for them if he were to marry again. This he did and he married an old woman who was very wicked. This woman wanted Lir to love and admire no one except herself. This led to great unhappiness in the home. One day his wife turned the children into swans. Lir was so displeased that he turned his wife into a hideous flying creature.
