   Some of them slept at one end and the others slept at the other and of this miserable bed. This was called ''heads and points''. There was no chimney, just a ''Poll dhentaig'' and when the door was opened the evil smell from the heap of manure was blown in. Such were the dwelling houses of ninety years ago.

   Loys were used for stripping. After the sixth of January farmers were flocking to Shivnan's forge in Brossna to get leans on their loys. Some wanted new loys so they went to Kilronan for timber. They then brought the ''makings'' of the lays and a tanner in the backs of their fists to Pat Duignan in Doogra. From Clárach and the Bay of Curnagrea
