    People used to make their own dye in olden times by getting wood called chip log wood. Then this wood used to be tied up in a piece of clean white cloth, and put into a pot and boiled. When this used to be well boiled the people used to put in whatever they wanted to be dyed, and boil all together for some time. This was known as black dye, and now no local people ever make any kind of dye.
