  1. A Local Song (ar lean)

In St. Patricks well there used to dwell.

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
Of Boyle the pride both far and wide
    The people love to tell.
Of the blessed trout that swam about
    All in St. Patrick's well.
An English fool, thought rather cool
    To catch what others spared.
With many a boast he tried to roast
One trout that he hath snared.
Before he knew away he flew
And where he could not tell
Then he saw no doubt the roasted trout
    Again in St. Patrick's well
    Unsatisfied again he tried
Once more this trout to catch
But let him choose the deepest ruse
I'm sure he met his match.
Till wet and sad he flew like mad
    The people laughed and cheered
Its turn about says the roasted trout
That lived in St. Patrick's Well.
