Having been granted permission by the head officer he set sail for Ireland, determined to find the gold. When he arrived in Ireland he found the man, whom he wanted -Micheal Coleman, and they both set about finding the treasure.
The soldier went to the priest to get the white cloth and after having heard the story the priest consented. After much difficulty he succeeded in finding a black cock. At midnight November's night the digging for the treasure was to begin, but before the night came the soldier was obliged to return to India as a war had broken out there.
When Halloween came his companion was on the carrigeen which was situated in the second field on the Boyle side of his house. He began to dig for the gold and he laboured till he was almost exhausted, but it was it was all in vain, he never saw the least sign of the treasure.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
