   And God be with the days I spent
   Around Lough Gara's shore.
   Those lonely scenes I oft recall,
   Thy heart can only tell.
   A fond adieu, bright days to you,
   Lough Gara, fare thee well!

   I think I see the old big tree,
   So stately and so tall.
   The Main Street and the Barrack
   And the dear, old waterfall.
   Old Quarry Lane I see you plain
   'Tis oft I trod you way,
   And the poor-house wall I do recall Otherwise O'Connor bray.

   I wished I was in dear old Boyle
   With past friends, good and true.
   Or on that oft trod Felton Road
   That leads to Knockadoo
   If I was on that ancient road,
   I would calmly kneel down and pray
   Its the land mark of some dear old friends
   Who have long since passed away.
   V
   The place is changed since I left there
   At least, I hear them say.
   The old folks going to their last homes
   Their offerings gone away
   God rest the dear ones that are gone
