   to himself for a long time and Seumas was so pleased at the playing that he called out "Well done, Red cap." As soon as Seumas had spoken the ball struck him the eye, and made him see the millions of stars that are in the sky at night. He rubbed his eyes with his hand and after a while he was able to look about him. But the fairies nor the cow could be seen no where. He looked all round but not a trace of the cow could be seen anywhere He ran home. "Where is the cow Seumas" asked his mother. I'm sure I cannot tell you and I thought you were minding the cow. Oh, the cow is safe enough somewhere Seumas replied. But how could I look after her when I had no eyes at all. What was the matter with your eyes asked his mother. "O'h didnt the fairy players drive their ball into one of them and made me stone-blind for a long time" was the reply. And perhaps they took our cow too said his mother they set off looking for the cow then. They searched high and low, until at last Seumas saw the cow's horns sticking out of a bog-hole. "Here she is" said Seumas. "Where" said his mother. "In the bog-hole" said her son. Then his mother started calling the neighbours. They pulled the cow out of the bog-hole but of course she was dead. The loss of the cow cost poor Seumas many
