Age: 12 yearsCastlemore Castle was built by a man named De Nangle who was a descendant of a Norman family. It was built about the year thirteen hundred and fifty six, and it continued to be the home of the De Nangles for many years. When the Castle was built the De Nangles changed their name to Costello.
Thomas Laidir Costello was the families champion and hero. He was renowned for is wonderful feats of strength. When red Hugh O'Donnell was marching to Kinsale he burned the Castle. He was afraid that when he would be gone the English would capture it and he would not be able to get it again. Some years after stones were got from the Castle for the mill which stands nearby.- Collector
