    Moygara Castle was built by a man called O'Gara and that is why it is called Moygara. It is situated in Edmonstown and is about two or three miles from Ballaghaderreen.
    It is said that O'Gara offended an English lord who attacked the castle and captured it. He, Then massacred the whole garrison but according to local tradition O'Gara and a few others escaped.
