- (continued from previous page)removed the flag from over the pot and lifted up up. By the time he had that done the dog had got the better of the cat which went and sat in the bed of the pot. The man pulled the soil out of the pot, but alas! it was empty.He took it home and his wife used it like any other pot. One day a poor scholar called in. He noticed the pot and asked the man where he got it. "I bought it in Gurteen the other day" was the response. "You would not get that kind of pot to buy, my dear man" returned the other."Well, to tell you the truth" said the man "I dug it out of the ground in the garden the other day." The poor scholar, who was very highly educated, examined it more closely. On the bottom of the pot he saw writing. "Was there gold in it sir?" he inquired. "No" said the man. "You go and dig the other side of that bush and you will find a pot of gold" said the poor scholar. "Very well, I will in the morning" he replied.On the succeeding morning(continues on next page)
