    The father next addressed his youngest son saying "How smart are you, James?" He answered "I am so smart that if I and a man and a cut bag of feathers were taken to the top of a hill on a rough day and the man to let the string go, so that the feathers would go with the wind I could collect every one of them and take them back to the man again".
    The king was as bad as ever now. He could not know which of them was the smartest. He thought of another plan. He went into the presence of his sons and said that the laziest of the three should succeed him.
    He asked John how lazy he was. "I am so lazy" said he "that if I were standing against a stack of hay and the stack to take fire I would not stir but would remain there till I was burned to cinders."
    "How lazy are you" said the king to Patrick "I am so lazy" he answered that if were left lying
