When some great event took place, such as a wedding meat was used, pork and fowl usually. Vegetables were not used; the people did not know how to cook them. People very seldom ate anything at night. At Christmas and Easter people tried to have some little change in the food.
In the district of Carracastle tea was first used about the year 1862. The noggin was the only vessel used at meals. It was made of wood. I have never seen one of them.
