- (continued from previous page)Saint Marys Bell. He was born in Dahal and he is a farmer about sixty years of age. There were a few other in our district who were gifted with versemaking and they used to compose these poems in English.
- The famine of 1846 and 1847 affected this district very much. In this district the population was five times as large as it is at present and a large number of people died from want and hunger during the famine. The old people still point out sites of several houses which were occupied in the famine.
