- (continued from previous page)In later years Catholic teachers were employed - namely a Mr Keaveney, and two Miss Egans from Kilsallagh. When the National Schools were built the pupils were all withdrawn from it and it fell into decay.
It was a subs-tantial-2 storied building. The teachers lived in the upper story. Some say that monks lived there in olden times.
There is no one living now who went to that school and it is difficult to get any information about it as people are shy to acknowledge that their ancestors attended it. It was my grandmother who took the slates off it (no title)
“Between the Post Office and Flanagan's Hall in Ballymoe...”
Between the Post Office and Flanagan's Hall in Ballymoe a road starts which passes through Durrow, Cloonruff, Cornamuckla, Trainboy, and out again on the main road at Ussey. This road only went part of the way some years ago, but was completed by the late C. D. B.
Up to then it was known as Saulce's Boreen because a man named Saulce.(continues on next page)
