- Long ago the people used never get married in Lent, Advent or in May. They used generally get married in Shrove and and June.
They used never get married on a Monday Wednesday or Friday. If they got married in Shrove Tuesday the girl couldnt go home to her own house until Lent was over. When the married pair are going to the church they used go on horse back and when they used be coming home the married couple used be first and the rest behind them.- Collector
