- Bread was made from wheat grown locally. Flour was made locally. People remember querns being used, and there are some in the district yet. Stampie, Oaten-meal bread, and Potato-cake were made.
A little salt and milk were used. Cake was baked every day. A cake used be baked every morning before breakfast and it used be eaten hot. The people used to make a mark with a knife the shape of a cross in top(continues on next page)- Collector
