- According to old saying there was a man lived in Licknavar Skibbereen whose name was Bill Barret. He dreamt one night that there was gold concealed at the corner of the castle in Castle Island, which is situated in the middle of Lough-Ine lake. The following night he set to work with tools, hoping to find the treasure. When he had a little dug a big black cat with two heads appeared to him. He left the tools there, and went home, immediately. It is said ever since that gold is hidden in Castle Island.
