  2. Long ago there lived a man during the famine of 1846. They were very poor poeple who lived in a cottage about a quarter of a mile to the east of my house. It was situated on the top of a hill.
    His father died of sickness, and he had no means of carrying his corpse to the graveyard, which was about three or four miles distant from his house, but on his back.
