Tobar Liagán is situated in the parish of Rahara in the north of Ceairamaro Caol. It is 10.5 chains S.E of the junction of Highbog, Caltragh and Carrowkiel. It is also 25 chains North of the road from Athleague to Athlone.
There are several stories told in connection with the well. One evening some girls were playing at the well one of them took away the stone that is beside the well and hid it and immediately the well went dry, somebody went to the well found the stone and left it beside the well again and the water came into it again.
St Brigid was supposed to be at this well long ago, there is still a stone beside the well with St Brigids face perfectly carved on it.
There was an old statue of St Brigid near the well but it got knocked down, the head is still beside the well, each one that goes to the well is supposed to throw water on the stone three times. there is a broad flat stone over the stream the Saints name is supposed to be written on it.
