Holy Wells In My Parish
Taughmaconnell is my native parish. It is situated in the county of Roscommon, and is bounded on the north by Dysart, on the south by the parish of Moore, on the east by Drum parish, and on the west by the river Suck.
There are many places of historic interest in it, including ruins of old castles,an old graveyard, a bishop's grave, and several other interesting places.
It contains three holy wells, namely, Saint Ronan's, Saint Patrick's, and Saint Malachy's. Saint Ronan's well is situated on the slope of a hill in the field of Mr. O' Connell in the Shraduff village.
The well is nicely surrounded by a circled stone wall, and a bush covers it, while a larger tree whose branches cover each side of the wall grows within a few yards from the well.
