    The farmers in this district sow potatoes once a year, that is in March. At first manure is spread on the field which is about to be tilled or put on the ridges after being ploughed. Sometimes sea-weed is put on the "bán" also. Sand is usually drawn from the strand and also put on the ridges. When the farmer is ready to plough the field, he gets one of his neighbour's horse and his own and plough the field into ridges, that is four sods standing
