- (continued from previous page)he used to sleep on a certain mans outhouse. Every night the farmer used to hear him walk around outside the house. One night he waited to see what would happen, so the man stole away in the middle of the night with a bag of potatoes.
- There are many old ruins in this district in which the old people call "Cabhlachts".
The houses were all thatched. They used to get the thatch (fineán). There used to be half-lofts in the houses and step ladders going up to them. It is in the loft they used to keep potatoes, wheat, oats, etc. There used always be a "quern" among 4 or 5 neighbour to grind the grain. (The quern stones are still to be seen in many houses)
The housewives used always do spinning. Half-doors used to be in the houses & rod doors.
