  1. There was a Neill boy from Bere Island working in a pit belonging to Mr Power Derrimihan.
    He was working in the pit one day and the gravel fell on him. My father was in the pit and some other men also. They took the boy out, and they sent for the doctor and priest because they thought the boy was alive. My father was working his hands to see if he was alive but he was not. They took him home and they buried him there.
