    that this tower was secretly built in one knight by St Colman Patron of Cloyne, but ere its its completion an early-rising woman making her appearance so distracted him that he leaped from the top of the building into the distant field, where the print of his feet may be seen to this day.
    The height of the tower is a little over one hundred feet. Originally it was some feet higher, but in the year 1749. having been struck by lightning during a storm, a portion of the top was destroyed.
