    apparent from the fact that he knew astonished his hearers by announcing that Mr Hutchinson instead of being cruelly stabbed had been shot.
    This statement was not believed but Duggan insisted that it was a fact and asked that his story should be tested by having the victims body exhumed. Under pressure from his insistence the body of Mr Hutchinson was exhumed and examined and the examination revealed that he had been shot through the heart which had been blown to atoms. Several pellets of duckshot were extracted and so Duggan’s account was confirmed.
    More arrests and several convictions followed, among them being Duggan’s own son, John, known locally as ‘Captain Thunderbolt’ It is to be assumed that the informer had denounced
