The O LearysFather O Donnchú has traced the history of the O Laoghaire " Buidhe " tribe from earliest times. We find them originally in Rosscarberry until the Collinses - ancestors of Michael Collins - trekked thither from County Limerick and expelled them by force. They then settled in the district that came to be known by their name - Ibh Laoghaire. The picturesque, ivy-clad ruins which is seen on the road to Inchigeela, about a mile from the village, was built by the ancestors of Máire Bhuidhe and they were inhabited up to the fall of King James II and the complete subjection of the Gaels.
