- There is a church-yard in Carhue, and in it lies a grave,
And in it Captain Taylor lies for Ireland he died to save,
He loved his native country thus, likewise his comrades true,

Early on a Sunday morning the murdering gang set out,
To take the life of our rebel boy as they did without a doubt,
And twenty of the Black and Tans Mac Coy was their D.I.
And Bergin was the murderer and Cooney was the spy.

They dragged our rebel from his home, and beat him right to death.
"I am dying for my country", he said with his last breath,
"Let my comrades do their duty, until all hands are true,
