- One time there was a pot of gold hid in the ground beside a mile-stone and a black cat minding it Many people heard of it but were afraid to go look for it. One night three men went to the place to dig for it. The cat was there and he made several jumps at them so they went back a few steps and proposed to kill the cat. When they had said that the cat spoke a few horrid words that frightened them very much and they ran for their lives.
