- In the olden times the people ate three meals a day. The meals were the breakfast, dinner and supper. In olden times there was no tea drunk. In the mornings before going out to work they used to have to dig their breakfast of potatoes and for their dinner they used to have potatoes and Brann-Brit. They used not to be sitting around the table but on the centre of the floor around a dish of potatoes.
The bread which the people used was made of Indian meal and water when they would not have milk. Meat was eaten only seldom it was salt herrings they used. There were no vegetables eaten because the people sowed none. There was no special food eaten only at Christmas; they might get a drop of tea and eggs at Easter.- Bailitheoir
