    was baked in a bastable, which was greased with either butter or cream. This was known as stampy or potato cake.
    Sometimes the old people made oaten meal from the oats, which they grew in their own farm. When the oats was dry it was milled in the quern, and oaten meal was then made from it.
    The old generation were very healthy and they knew nothing of sweet-cake. The people of to-day are not very healthy.
