A Birde was winged that morning,
A minion of the crowd,
No loss was he to Bantry,
Nor to any other town.
A magpie or a crow,
His spirit proud could tame,
A rough and rugged son of toil,
From the Kerry hills he came.

Another trial the jury packed,
The Spawn of Cromwells breed,
To hang this gallant Irishman,
At last they did succeed.
He was murdered in old Ireland,
Far across the dark blue sea,
A thousand men like Cadogan,
Would set old Ireland free.

And now his spirit hovers,
From Cork to Bantry Bay,
For Dukelow and for Denis,
They both swore his life away.
The grass they tread will wither,
And never again will grow,
When trampled by Iscariots,
