- St John's EveIn this district fires are lit in the potato fields on St John's Eve. Withered bushes are gathered together, and they are so placed that when lit, the wind blows the smoke over the crop. The people say that the lighting of these fires brings a blessing on the crops.
This custom has been carried out in this district as long as the people can remember.
