- A Holy Well There is a well in Cape Clear which is known as "Saint Kieran's Well". It is so called because it was connected with Saint Kieran. It is a holy well. This well is situated a little above the pier in the island. The well is covered with a stone and when the tide comes in it covers the well. When the tide goes out the water becomes fresh again. Long ago people who had certain diseases used to go to the well to be cured. For a good many years no one went to this well to be cured.
