- (continued from previous page)of Droumcoora. One of them is situated in John Sullivans land. That fort was never unearthed. There is an entrance hole going down into it. The other forth is in our land. That fort was unearthed. There was a long chanell leading from one fort to the other. There is a man living in Banisheal who unearthed a fort. He was helped by David Daly of Carrig but he is dead. They found a lot of small little rooms and doors and each door was locked. There were four high walls around it. It is said that there was a man working in a field in our land in Droumcoora about one o clock in the night
He was cutting corn and he thought he heard a voice. He stopped and he listened and he took no notice of it. He went on cutting, he heard the voice again and he got frightened. He was going home but he looked back and he saw a light running across the field. When the man went home he died of fright. That fort was dug out since. There is a long flag of about twenty feet stretched along the place where the fort was. It is said that a man was going home from Skibbereen to Schull long ago and he was riding a horse.
