  1. There is a tradition in this locality about a priest-hunter who killed a priest with a reaping hook at Girlough, Ballineen. When he had killed the Priest he threw the reaping hook into a marsh on his way to Ballineen Co. Cork.
    He got £5 for killing the priest and he went to America. He returned to Ireland and he was walking in the marsh where years before he threw the reaping hook. The reaping hook was red with rust and it struck him on the leg and he died of blood poisoning.
