  2. Between Timoleague and Barryroe there is a townland called Cregane. Long ago people firmly believed that they USED TO HEAR THE DEAD PLAYING HURLEY in a goal-field there. The heard the cracking and hitting of the hurleys. Always they had a living man as goal minder. He used to be seen but only the sound of the others was heard. People firmly believed that the fairies took away living persons, who used to disappear for a time, hence the expression "He's gone in the fairies."
