  1. About two miles west of Gagin and about half a mile inland there is a very big fort. This fort is about twenty feet high and occupies over an acre. Around this fort there are two trenches that still exist. Most people near it think that it belonged to the Danes. It is said that it is one of the largest in Ireland. It is situated in the land of Mr Michael O'Driscoll, Kilcoleman who never ploughed or done anything to it. It is thought that under this fort there are many small rooms.
